This is how it works: Beginning March 17th, 2008, you will receive the first class lesson in a pdf format. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader 5 or higher to open it. You can get Reader for free from www.adobe.com. Each lesson will take about 15 to 20 minutes to read. You will be asked to do certain exercises and make observations throughout the week. Schedule in short intervals throughout the week. This is on the job instruction and you will become your own instructor. Application will be made to daily operations. On the following Monday you will receive the next lesson. If questions arise, you may e-mail them to me. Questions and responses will be e-mailed to the group as a whole on a weekly basis so everyone can have the benefit of the question and response. First names only will be shared unless you request to have no name identified or to not have a question published at all. This course is your opportunity to move to the next level or higher in your leadership!

This course is not for people who are "kinda-sorta" into excellence. It is for committed people--- people like you who really do have the intention to move forward.

The Leader's Edge Online Leadership Development Class

The Leader's Edge is a ten week online leadership development class for leaders in organizations. The purpose of the class is to increase awareness of organization dynamics, relationship dynamics, motivational factors, and how to increase positive influence. There is a strong self awareness component in order to assist leaders to understand and shape their impact on the organization and on the people around them.

Who should take this class?

Leaders who want to increase their effectiveness as goal achievers.

Leaders who want to increase their positive influence with others.

Leaders who want to set a tone that inspires excellent performance.

Leaders who want to successfully implement change efforts.

Leaders who want to accurately assess where they and their organization are now, and what to do to move forward.



How does the class work?

You receive class lessons every Monday in the form of a PDF document. Actual work on the lesson will take about an hour to an hour and a half, spread out through the week. The lessons will ask you to write down observations and apply learning to your ongoing work.

Every Thursday you will receive a midweek update e-mail. This will include questions and comments by participants and brief inspirational thoughts. You have the opportunity to ask questions or express other thoughts by e-mail. All questions will be responded to and published on Thursdays. First names only will be used. E-mail addresses will not be shared, however participants may decide to be in contact with other participants by request.

There are no bells and whistles in this class--just uncommon sense.


What is required to take the class?

You will need a blank notebook or journal.

You need an e-mail address that will accept attachments.

Workplaces using Gwava and other blocking programs will need to arrange for reception of the lessons.

You will need a copy of the book--Beyond Blaming: Unleashing Power and Passion in People and Organizations, available at this site for $14 plus shipping.

What does it cost? The class is $39.95.

Are there any other features and costs?

Yes, there are three options participants may choose.
Option 1: Take the DISC Behavioral Profile. A paper copy may be ordered for $ 16 plus shipping or you may opt for the online version at $ 30.00

Option 2: Assess your current leadership impact with a 360 degree leadership assessment. If you take this option, you will be sent a hyper link, which you in turn will send to whoever you want to assess you. A 360 degree means that you are assessed by those around you--direct reports, those at your level, and those above you in the organization. You choose who will assess you. The assessment has 16 questions and allows for comments. All results are confidential and sent to you. Participants can be secure in knowing that their assessment is given in anonymity. The cost for this option is $ 85.00. Up to 25 respondents may participate.

Option 3: You may elect to be coached as you take this class. This will involve a one hour per week telephone session with a professional executive coach. The coach will work with you to internalize and apply the learning. Coaching Sessions are priced at $125 each. If you sign up and pay for five or more coaching sessions you receive one more at no charge. In other words, sign up for five and you receive six at no extra charge.

In this case you may decide to receive coaching every other week, then one session at the conclusion of the class. It is the participant's responsibility to set up the phone appointments, make the call, and pay in advance. Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance as coaches are often focusing part of their day around your call.

You may take the class without any of the options.

4. How Do We Move Beyond Blaming? Personal responsibility and personal power.

5. How Do We Build Strong Connections With Others? Responsiveness to others. Relationships and Motivation. Effective conversations.

6. How Do We Clearly Define Direction and Align People With It? Clarity--Vision/Values/Goals and building it into your system.

7. How Do We Focus Attitudes and Behaviors? Structure and Expectations. High performance coaching.

8. How Do We Create Organizational Well-Being From The Inside Out? The importance of integrity, authenticity and establishing well-being. Living the vision.

9. How Do We Teach Others to Live the Vision? Increasing your power while empowering others. Structuring a success oriented system.

10. How Do We Stay Focused on the Vision While Managing Ever Greater Complexity? How to see both the forest and the trees.
This online class will ask you to observe self, others, and your organization non judgmentally. You will be challenged to change your own thinking and attitudes. True change comes from the inside out. The greatest fear participants will encounter is the fear of success. Many, if not most people have a fear of accepting greater responsibility and power. This class will challenge you to become more powerful.
